The Bell Labs Holmdel Complex, in Holmdel Township, New Jersey, United States, functioned for forty-four years as a research and development facility, initially for the Bell System and later Bell Labs.[3] The centerpiece of the campus is an Eero Saarinen designed structure that served as the home to over 6,000 engineers and researchers.[4] This modernist building, dubbed “The Biggest Mirror Ever” by Architectural Forum, due to its mirror box exterior, was the site of at least one Nobel Prize discovery, the laser cooling work of Steven Chu.[1][10] The building has undergone renovations into a multi-purpose living and working space, dubbed Bell Works by its redevelopers. Since 2013 it has been operated by Somerset Development, who redeveloped the building into a mixed-use office for high-tech startup companies.[11] The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.[9]
Public access limited to just the first floor… . so getting that backdrop of the ceiling means a slight upward angle. The upper floors are private companies. Being a public area I would shy away from off camera flash. Maybe bring an assistant to hold up an led….ie avoid tripods. (Fyi…You would need security clearance for such)
Avoiding tripods also means it is challenging to do self portraits but the environment is family friendly so planning ahead could work really well. Has some cool furniture and greenery around …outdoors could also work during the spring / summer months. Winter its kind of bland outside other than using the glass building as a backdrop
