Great location with ease of access and historical feel

Now that i work down in Dayton i find myself in central jersey alot and love exploring the area and finding new locations. This place was definitely worth the drive. It has so much to work with. It is well maintained, while maintaining its historic charm.

The first thing is the aqua colored tunnel you enter through which shines the sunlight through its cracks just right. From there is the long green barn and outhouses with little doorways to stand in.

There are white fence archways surrounding the main house, paths with tree coverings and a mill outback with a vibrant blue color.

This is a 5 star spot for any #monmouth #familyphotographer
I have a feeling this place is even more charming when theres fresh snow on the ground

Gigi is the granddaughter of Blair who runs the local Morris Habitat (who I have volunteered with before) and was honored to show them Boonton Falls as they are based out of Phoenix. I love Boonton for not only the falls but also its near the train line which provides graffiti and a cool perspective underneath them

Millbrook Village has a quiet almost haunting feel to it. A good collection of old rustic buildings. It is part of the Delaware Water Gap National Park and thus open to photography, has public bathrooms and is very walkable

i was checking the website for the Bridget Smith House (ferremonte.org) shown yesterday and under “Restoration” it led to info about a Margaret Hickey of Connolly & Hickey Historical Architects

Went to their website and under current projects was a farm called Fosterfields….so I went to hunt it down. During the week the location was closed so I was about to leave but decided to drive up the hill since its in #morrisparks which led me to a small parking lot and the stairs shown with a mansion at the top

The house looked awesome and come to find it too is part of Fosterfields and thus part of the public park. Its currently being leased by CFNJ.org (Community Foundation of New Jersey) and met with Dayana who told me a little about the place @yourfavoritedayana

i loved everything about the house. the only drawback is no pets

Portrait Pros:
i love the aqua door the most. Gives the place some character 😉 The little shed with the moon could be cool and theres a little cobblestone path with what I assume are the names of donors

Portrait Cons:
its small, on a main road and surrounded by private houses …all of which limits angles, lens choices

Overall good for the history learning, and for bloggers doing selfies or maybe individual/engagement portraits but not really for any full sessions

I really liked the Jacobus Vanderveer House. the property was well maintained and the park has a covered bridge which is always a win

the lighting can be challenging so ideal spots need some planning in regards to how the sun hits the house through the trees but there is some good variety for a full photo session here

I love the look of the building and the train is clean and sturdy. Great spot for some rustic teen portraits or an engagement session …only giving 3 stars due to its size, making it not really ideal for family sessions

I needed a Cassette Tape Wall for my Tshirt project and Urban Burger was perfect for it….great burgers too
